Neartown Little League's mission is to provide children, ages five through fourteen, in the Neartown, Montrose, Fourth Ward, and Midtown areas with the opportunity to play baseball in a safe, nurturing environment. Children from low-income families who cannot afford to pay a registration fee are given "scholarships".
Rockport's Ron Beagle, a sponsor of the league, spearheaded the project to rebuild, redesign and host the Neartown site. The new site, with custom web design and web development done entirely by Rockport Solutions, stands on a par with any professional sporting enthusiast site but is "all about the kids."
